Display Designer
With the release of new color display units follows a completely reworked and extended display designer. The new designer supports the new display units and their abilities such as higher resolution and color.
The new display units also are much more flexible and the previously fixed set of graphical objects are now replaced with customizable objects. A set of standard objects are supplied but one is not limited to use these. New objects can be created by the user to fit their special needs.
The multilanguage support has also been enhanced by showing the actual translations onscreen while editing and also giving clues of not yet translated parts in the menus.
It is also possible to translate any pop-up messages, including system messages, that was previously not possible.
Enhanced I/O List Printing
The print-out of the text view I/O list has been enhanced and easier to read. It now prints one unit per page and also includes both A and B connectors for quick reference.
Test Scripting
The CANTool has grown a new feature for automatic regression testing during development. These test scripts are based on Lua, as the simulation scripts that were previously available as well.
The testscripts sets up a specific state by manipulating symbols and then executes a built in tick function for each simulation step. Between these steps the test script can examine all symbols and make sure they have the correct values.
To make it even easier to automatically run these tests, they can be run directly from command line as well.
